Mexican Bush Sage is a drought-tolerant perennial with soft silvery green foliage. In the fall it dazzles with spikes of purple flowers. It dies to the ground in the winter but returns in the spring. As the case with some of the salvias, the stems are brittle, so the plant does best protected from high winds.

Mexican Bush Sage does best in full sun but will tolerate part sun, and it needs well-drained soil. It does equally well as a specimen or planted en masse. It makes good cut or dried flower.
