Buttonbush is a large shrub is attractive in itself with its weeping growth habit but perhaps can be easily overlooked… until it blooms. It then puts on a show like no other. Its blooms seem almost otherworldly. They are magical round spheres that somehow are tough and delicate all at the same. They make good honey, and both bees and butterflies love it. Birds use it for shelter and as nesting sites. While it loves wet feet, it can thrive in drier locations as well and can be used for erosion control. In most yards it will become a striking focal point and a center point of wildlife activity.
