Sporobolus wrightii (Big Sacaton)
$ 19.98
Also known as Sacaton, Alkali Sacaton.
Big Sacaton is a larger, ornamental grass that is alkaline soil and salt tolerant. It features attractive plumes and makes for a showy specimen grass or an accent in mixed plantings. Big Sacaton grows primarily on heavier soils in lowland or wetland sites. It can tolerate poorly drained soils and seasonally flooded areas. The plant is also found on open areas such as rocky slopes, plateaus, and mesas. It performs well as a grass hedge terrace or windstrip for erosion control. It helps stabilize watershed structures, stream banks and flood plain areas. Big Sacaton is also useful for wildlife cover.
This is an excellent native substitution for Miscanthus grasses.
