Schizachyrium scoparium 'Prairie Blues' (Little Bluestem 'Prairie Blues')
$ 8.98
‘Prairie Blues’ is a seed selection of native grass, Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium). It features blue-gray foliage, fall color, and is low-maintenance. It tolerates poor soils, but needs good drainage and full sun. It is drought-tolerant. Like the species, ‘Prairie Blues’ produces fluffy white seed heads that may persist into winter. Its fall color is bronze-orange.
The seeds are eaten by many species of birds, and it is a host plant to skipper butterflies.
‘Prairie Blues’ works well when planted in groups or interspersed throughout a garden. It makes a good filler plant, adding texture and color but not outcompeting other plants.
