Pigeonberry is a charming shade-loving perennial. Its blooms are pale pink and are followed by bright red berries that are eaten by birds. It likes bright shade or morning sun exposure best but will adjust to deeper shade or a bit more sun. Pigeonberry prefers moist but well-draining soil. If not provided with supplemental water in the summer it will go dormant and come back when the rains return. Pigeonberry is an excellent addition to any woodland garden, and looks best when planted en masse.
